Federal nursing training programs renewed through 2030

What does this do?

This bill renews federal programs that help train nurses through 2030. It expands what schools and students can use grant money for, including simulation equipment, telehealth tools, more faculty, and payments to the experienced nurses who supervise students during clinical training. It also updates training requirements to include care for survivors of sexual assault, alongside survivors of domestic violence.

Who does it affect?

Nursing students in specialized programs — including nurse practitioners, nurse-midwives, nurse anesthetists, and clinical nurse specialists — would be eligible for these federal grants. Nursing schools and the clinics or hospitals they partner with would also receive support.

Renewing these programs continues federal investment in growing the nurse workforce and improving hands-on training. Adding sexual assault survivors to the list of patients nurses are trained to serve broadens the scope of care covered by the program.
