What does this do?

This bill would set up a short-term advisory commission to study how artificial intelligence is reshaping jobs, education, taxes, manufacturing, transportation, and government services. The commission would publish an interim report after about seven months and a final report with specific legislative recommendations after about thirteen months.

Who does it affect?

The commission would have 10 members appointed by congressional leaders, including some current members of Congress and some outside experts in AI, education, workforce training, and taxation. Four non-voting deputy secretaries from the Departments of Education, Labor, Commerce, and Treasury would also participate. Key congressional committees and four Cabinet secretaries would receive the final report and have 60 days to respond.
